About MCB Systems

MCB Systems was founded in 1989 by Mark C. Berry, who is still its principal. Mark has a broad background in the computer industry going back to 1979, when he first worked as a programming intern in an IBM mainframe environment (yes, using punch cards!). Since then, Mark has worked in many areas of the computer industry.

Background

Systems Analysis and Programming From the early days of COBOL to the present day of Windows and .NET technologies, Mark has spent much of his career creating custom computer programs, with a particular focus on database design and implementation.

IT/Network Administration Mark has always maintained the computer systems for MCB Systems, which include multiple servers and workstations, and for the last several years has been the IT administrator for a local church.

Business and Church Administration In addition to running his own business since 1989, Mark served for several years on the Board of Trustees of his church, including two years as Chairman.

Product Support and Training Mark acquired support and training skills through his work at Hewlett-Packard and later when he introduced TRADOS foreign-language translation products to the North American market.

Technical Communication Mark’s primary focus for several years was authoring technical and user documentation for Hewlett-Packard hardware and software products.

International Perspective Mark lived for five years in Germany, four of them employed by Hewlett-Packard. As an accredited German to English translator, he translated software manuals for the TRADOS products, and then worked in the translation industry to sell and support the products.

Credentials Mark holds a B.A. in Computer Studies from Northwestern University and is a Microsoft Certified Professional.
