Mark Berry has owned MCB Systems since 1989.
MCB Systems was founded in 1989 by Mark Berry, who is still its principal. Mark has a broad background in the computer industry going back to 1979, when he first worked as a programming intern in an IBM mainframe environment (yes, using punch cards!). Since then, Mark has worked in many areas of the computer industry.
Mark is a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist.
Background
Systems Analysis and Programming
From the early days of COBOL to the present day of Windows and web technologies, Mark has spent much of his career creating custom computer programs, with a particular focus on database design and implementation. Customers appreciate Mark’s ability to understand their unique requirements and to suggest technical solutions to their business problems.
Information Technology Services
Mark has installed, configured, upgraded, monitored, and maintained more hardware and software than he can remember, but some recent highlights include Windows Server 2012 Essentials, Windows 7, IP telephony, and custom web sites using WordPress.
Product Support and Training
Mark acquired support and training skills through his work at Hewlett-Packard and later when he introduced TRADOS foreign-language translation products to the North American market.
Technical Communication
Mark’s primary focus for several years was authoring technical and user documentation for Hewlett-Packard hardware and software products.
International Perspective
Mark lived for five years in Germany, four of them employed by Hewlett-Packard. As an accredited German to English translator, he translated software manuals for the TRADOS products, and then worked in the translation industry to sell and support the products.
Education
Mark holds a B.A. in Computer Studies from Northwestern University. Go Wildcats!
